Scriptures Testify About Death III

Hades & Tartarus

In this article we will deal with the words Hades and Tartarus which are usually confused to be the same place "hell". These are the words used in the Messianic Writings (New Testament).

Hades: Strong's Ref. # 86 from GSN0001 (as negative particle) and GSN1492; properly, unseen, "Hades", or the place (state) of departed souls [authors own indoctrinated biased, should have been "state of expired souls]: KJV Usage--grave, hell.

Hades is used in the Greek as an equivalent to Sheol.

Matthew 11:23 And you, Capernaum, will you be exalted unto heaven? you will be brought down unto Hades: for if the mighty works had been done in Sodom which were done in you, it would have remained until this day.

Nothing here about any cooking going on in a place down under. Capernaum would be brought to nothing.

Matthew 16:18 And I also say unto you, that you art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates [Strong's #4439 pule: a gate, a town, a prison] of Hades shall not prevail against it.

Could it be that Yhowshua is stating that the gate (or prison) that holds down people in Hades (the grave) [no power to conquer death on our own] will not prevail in holding us in within it's gate (or in it's prison) through Elohim resurrecting us.  This would be just like death not having power of Yhowshua to hold him in it. Acts 2:24

This is another scripture that has nothing to do with burning, fire, and sinners being in it. Usually a person is taught FIRST that there is this place. By time to read this Scripture they have already been indoctrinated with the concept. When they read this passage they actually insert into this text whats not there. The indoctrinated insertion is "The gates of the (flaming) hell will not prevail against the church.

It is actually the grave that wont prevail against the church. Read Hosea 13:14, 1 Cor. 15:55, Rev. 1:8.

Luke 16:23 The famous Lazarus story that confuses everyone. I will deal with that in (Coming Soon)

Acts 2:27 Because thou wilt not leave my soul unto Hades, Neither wilt thou give thy Holy One to see corruption.

Psalms 16:10 For thou wilt not leave my soul to Sheol; Neither wilt thou suffer thy holy one to see corruption.

I will continue to reiterate that it is only with the indoctrinated bias that one would immediately read into this text that Yhowshua was not left in a flaming hell. It is this verse that is used to suggest that he had to suffer in hell as part of the salvation plan. Some go as far as to say that he had to be saved himself in hell. Others say that he only went to the Paradise side of Sheol. All of these different takes are all based on confusion.

Without the indoctrination, a person would see not this verse saying anything about a burning place called hell. This is simply stating that Yhowshua was not left in the grave to see corruption. Notice how this statement is made in the context of him being in Sheol/Hades, everyone knows that in a grave your body begins to rot out after awhile. Yhowshuas body was prevented by G-d from going through such in the grave.

1 Corinthians 15:55 O death, where is thy victory? O grave (Hades), where is thy sting?

Notice how death and the grave (Sheol/Hades) are mentioned together in various passages. It makes complete sense when you add it all up.

Revelation 1:8 and the Living one; and I was dead, and behold, I am alive for evermore, and I have the keys of death and of Hades.

Well what are the keys to death and Hades (grave)? Its his ability to resurrect whoever he chooses to from death and the grave. This is something he will do: John 5:28-29, John 11:25, Acts 4:2, etc.

Revelation 20:13-15 And the sea [a physical location] gave up the dead that were in it; death and Hades (the grave) gave up the dead that were in them [notice that the same action is described]: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death, even the lake of fire. And if any was not found written in the book of life, he was cast into the lake of fire.

Obvisously death is not a physical itemt that can be cast into a physical location. Death is an event, if you notice the Scriptures say there will be no more death in eternity. Death being cast into the lake of fire is a symbolic way of stating that death will be eliminated. The Lake of Fire, Second Death, and Gehenna will all be dealt with in a separate article. This article will show that the Second Death is just an eternal version of the first death (basically elimination).

Hades is another item that is a physical location, but graves being thrown into a location makes no sense. Graves will be eliminated and no more. Even if one imagines Hades to be the current believed version of "hell" it still does not make any sense that this location will be thrown into another location. This will become clear in the next article.

Tartarus:

Unfortunately this word was also translated "hell" though it has no relation to Sheol, Hades, Gehenna, or the Lake of Fire. Tartarus is only mentioned one time in Scripture in:

2 Peter 2:4-5: For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but threw them down into Tartarus, into chains of darkness, having committed them to pits of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;

There is no mention of this place having anything to do with the grave, death, or having to do with sinners going there to burn.

We will now move on to part IV of this topic.
